RENZ+OEI is a Brooklyn-based design-build studio founded by Jean Oei and Gabriel Renz in 2015. With expertise spanning art, architecture, design, fabrication, and technology, the studio brings a distinctive blend of creativity and technical know-how to each project. Drawing on their combined experience from past and current projects, as well as ongoing research and design exploration, RENZ+OEI crafts innovative solutions that respond to dynamic design opportunities, and creates custom solutions for each unique context.

FOUNDERS

Jean

Singapore-born Jean is an architect and a skilled decoder of complex architectural programming. With over 16 years of experience at Morphosis Architects, she worked closely with Pritzker Prize laureate Thom Mayne on numerous award-winning projects. Jean previously held a leadership role at The New School, where she led campus planning and space initiatives at the university's New York City and Paris campuses. She holds a BS in Architecture from Kent State University and a MArch from the Southern California Institute of Architecture.

gabriel

With over 30 years of experience in the design and construction industry, Gabriel brings a wealth of expertise to the table. As a seasoned owner and operator of Architectural Metal fabrication businesses, construction manager, owner’s representative, general contractor, and journeyman structural steel fabricator, he has a proven track record of delivering complex projects. Gabriel's collaborative approach and inventive problem-solving skills have earned him a reputation for turning ambitious visions into reality, from unique interior spaces to complex kinetic structures and large-scale sculptural works of art. His deep knowledge and experience make him an invaluable asset to any project, providing expert guidance and support every step of the way.
